Creating A Website

While working for Color Fire, I worked with the lead designers to create graphics for websites using WordPress. I helped create sliders that featured images on a clients' website, icons, or buttons for that were used to show information in a grphical way. In addition, I would write custom code to a website to make a sidebar how a client would want, or to even adjust the spacing manually on the site.

Recently, I was tasked to design a website all on my own using WordPress! I created the website for Goshen Farm Preservation Society. It was fun and at the same time, very nerve-racking.

One of the first things I did was I sketched out how I wanted the front page design to visually look. Then I organized the vast amount of pages by setting up the menu navigation by writing a list before I even touched the computer. By doing this, it really helped me to organize my thoughts and the site.

The next steps I took was to choose the color palette for the site, and the font styles. After that, it was adding content and design elements like icons, sliders, rollovers and images.

Setting up the site itself takes longer than adding actual content to the site. Once you have a strusture and a overall look and feel of a site, adding the content should be a breeze.

Check out the site for yourself!
